It’s Thanksgiving, so there is no better time than to give ‘thanks’ for all that we have. No doubt that while working in a startup, we’re faced with many joys and many challenges… maybe more challenges than we’d like in our lives. However, take this opportunity, if you haven’t already, to be thankful for all that you have -most importantly, for having the ‘choice’ to be an entrepreneur. Personally, I need this time to remind myself of this. This year, there have been a particularly large number of obstacles- or as I like to think- problems that require creative solutions. As an entrepreneur, this is my job— to solve Wicked problems.
I am grateful for all the opportunities afforded to me and the choices that I’ve been able to make, even if they haven’t been the optimal decisions. Maybe you can relate? I don’t know what the future holds but I’m a hopeless romantic- I mean optimist. In one of the many business and philosophy books that I devoured this year, I’m reminded of “Thank You Power,” a book written by journalist Deborah Norville. “Beginning with the regular practice of counting one’s blessings and feeling thankful for them, one can become healthier, happier, smarter, and more resilient [in life].” Don’t forget, there is a positive force that comes through in our every day decision-making simply by acknowledging the ‘good things’ in life.
